Real Madrid have received some bad news from the treatment table in the aftermath of their impressive 7-0 win over Malaga on Thursday evening, with star player Cristiano Ronaldo forced off the pitch after 77 minutes of play due to a hamstring problem.
The Portuguese superstar netted a hat-trick in the encounter, but after scoring his third, immediately signalled to the bench that he had to come off, and the player confirmed that he will be sidelined for a while.
"I hurt myself when I scored my third goal. I didn't want to risk anything with all the important games coming up so I limped off. The injury doesn't seem to be too serious though," said Ronaldo to Marca.
"We were winning the game and there was no need to take any risks. That's why I left the pitch. However, I don't think I'll be able to play against Racing Santander on Sunday."
Ronaldo underwent further examination on Friday morning and a scan has revealed that the attacker will be unavailable for 10-15 days due to the knock, meaning that he could very well miss the Champions League match against Olympique Lyonnais on 16 March.
The Real Madrid forward has now scored 27 goals in 26 La Liga appearances, and currently sits second in the Castrol Rankings.
