The deteriorating underground sewerage system problem in Communities 1 to 4 in Tema in the Greater Accra Region is likely to influence the decision of voters in the area.
This is because human excreta still spills and runs into rooms of residents due to cracked pipelines and calls by residents to get the Assembly to fix the age-old problem have fallen on deaf ears.
"All our manholes are choked because the sewerage system is bad. The liquids waste from the pipes gushes into the homes of residents close to the pipelines," one resident told Joy News' Matilda Wemegah.

She reported that the situation has left an unbearable stench in the homes of residents which poses a serious health hazard.

With 25 days to the general elections, residents say the problem will hugely influence their vote.
Another teething problem that will also control the choice of the electorate in the area is the high unemployment rate.
"The youth are suffering, I should be working right now instead of sitting here and chatting," one resident said.
The communities affected are under the Tema East Constituency, whose Member of Parliament (MP) is the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) Daniel Titus-Glover
He is contesting the former Chief Executive of the Tema Metropolitan Assembly, Robert Kempis Ofosu-Ware.
