Ghana coach Goran Stevanovic is confident Chelsea midfielder Michael Essien will return to the Ghana fold soon.Essien denied earlier claims by the Serbian that he is due for a return to the Ghana side for the Nations Cup qualifier against Congo and the international friendly against England two days later but Stevanovic has still not given up on wooing the Chelsea man back.
He also insists that allegations that Essien has not got the country at heart are wide off the mark.
"Essien is a very good player and likes Ghana very much," the Serbian coach said.
"My first impression while speaking with him was that he is interested in playing for the national team and I know it will be soon."
Essien has not played for Ghana since the 2010 Nations Cup when he picked up an injury and spent close to eight months out of action. He then asked for time off from international duty but has not set a return date despite insisting that he will pay for the Black Stars again.Source: Kickoff.com
