Day Two of the funeral rites of the late queen of the Asante kingdom is continuing with a heavy mix of chiefs and leading political personalities taking turns to console the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

Members of the National House of Chiefs, led by Togbe Afede of the Asogli state were at the Manhyia Palace to pay their last respects to the departed queen, Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem II, who died aged 111.

Former Presidents John Mahama and Jerry John Rawlings are expected to be the leading political figures to attend the funeral along with former UN Secretary General, Kofi Annan and British High Commissioner, Jon Benjamin.

Independent candidate in the 2016 general elections Jacob Osei Yeboah was also there.

The Dagon Traditional Council came along with a large entourage. They were led by the Dagomba chief in Kumasi, Alhaji Tanko Muntaka Aziz.

The Gurune warriors were at Manhyia to mourn with Asanteman. They were led by Baba Musa Kabonga, the Gurune chief in Kumasi. 

  

Other dignitaries so far sighted by Joy News' Erastus Asare Donkor include Inspector General of Police COP John Kudalor, COP Grace Bio Atinga. Representatives from Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) Limited, and Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.

Members of the Ghana Bar Association (GBA) led by Regional President lawyer Francis Quophie were in Kumasi to commiserate with the Asante kingdom. 

Management members from Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), Ghana Tourism Authority and other companies were present with MTN donating GHC25,000.

Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) led by its president Asare Adjei and the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Arts led by Chief Director Nana Yaw Oduro Kwarteng were on hand to lend their support.
