Mr Stephen Akwetey has been appointed the Chairman of the Interim Management Committee (IMC) of Accra Hearts of Oak with immediate effect.
The astute lawyer is to head a five-member Committee which was unanimously endorsed by the Board of Directors of the Club upon the recommendations of the Board’s Search Committee.
A Press release issued and signed by Ernest Thompson, Board Secretary of the Club on Thursday named the other members as Frank Nelson Nwokolo, Kofi Anokyi Owusu Darko, Maxwell Addo and Ashford Tettey Oku, the Club’s Administrative Manager.
The release said the IMC has been given the mandate to manage the affairs of the Club for one football (2007/2008) League season.
The Board has also given the IMC the right to co-opt any other person whom they approve of in the interest of the Club.
Meanwhile the release said the Board will in due course take steps to advertise the position of a substantive Chief Executive of the Club who will eventually take over from the IMC after the end of the 2008 soccer season.
The Board took the opportunity to express its appreciation to the supporters, well-wishers and the media for their support and cooperation during the process leading to the appointment of the IMC in the interest of the Phobian fraternity.
