The super station Joy 99.7 fm has received an award for its outstanding reportage and platforms for constructive discussions on domestic violence and gender based issues. The award presented by the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Ghana Police Service commends the Joy News team for keeping the unit on its toes and assisting it to locate distressed survivors of abuse. The citation also commended Joy FM for engaging millions of listeners in educative sessions on the Home Affairs programme and the late afternoon show. Coordinating Director of DOVVSU ACP Elizabeth Dassah presented the award to Joy FM. “Joy FM is one radio station that we respect a lot because they deal with issues dispassionately; they are very analytical; they have also identified the DOVVSU as a strategic partner because of their interest in developmental issues. The prompt us on people who are in distress,” she said She added reporters follow up on such stories until justice is done to victims. Joy news editor Samson Lardi Ayenini who received the award on behalf of the team expressed gratitude to DOVVSU for acknowledging the efforts his outfit is putting into the developmental agenda of the country.
