The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Youth Wing has hinted of a "peaceful and lawful march" to petition the President over alleged lawless behavior of some New Patriotic Party (NPP) supporters.

The Youth Wing in a statement copied Myjoyonline.com said the march would be the last attempt by the party to get President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to address the pockets of harassment meted out to some innocent Ghanaians in the country after the December 7, 2016 polls.

"The purpose of this peacefully planned march is to demonstrate our utter indignation and disgust about the new culture of lawlessness introduced by the NPP and the Nana Akufo Addo government since assuming power," the statement said.

The march has been scheduled for Friday, February 24, 2017 and it is expected to start from Makola, through to Atta Mills High Street to the National Theatre and would end at the Flagstaff House.

NDC Deputy National Youth Organiser James Kofi Fonu Kpatakpa in an interview with Myjoyonline.com said they would use the opportunity to tell the world about their plights following change of government.

"We are doing this because we've given enough time to the President and NPP government but there is no improvement with the situation," he said, adding some Ghanaians and NDC members are living in fear.

NDC YOUTH MARCHES FOR SELF-DEFENCE

The youth wing of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) wishes to bring to the attention of the media and the general public that it will embark on a peaceful and lawful march on Friday, February 24th 2017 starting from Nkrumah circle - enroute to Makola, through Atta Mills high street to custom head office traffic lights, straight to National theatre and end at Afrikiko, where the leaders will present their letters of grievance to the President at Flagstaff house.

The purpose of this peacefully planned march is to demonstrate our utter indignation and disgust about the new culture of lawlessness introduced by the NPP and the Nana Akuffo Addo government since assuming power.

The NPP government and its lawlessness is mainly targeted at our rank and file, our former government officials, law abiding Ghanaians working in various government institutions as well as our party officers.

It would be recalled that in the wake of the unprovoked attacks on our supporters by thugs and hoodlums of the NPP, our national leadership including our former President H.E John Dramani Mahama, our national chairman, Kofi Portophy, our General secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah as well as our national youth organiser Sidii Abubakar have all issued statements and held press conferences, calling on the security agencies to ensure law and order and the safety of all Ghanaians including NDC members and functionaries.

However, all these clarion calls seem to have fallen on the deaf ears of Nana Akuffo Addo and his government and party operatives who are bent on running Ghana as though there has been a coup d'tat in this country.

To make matters worse, the ruling NPP and its operatives have continued to take the law into their own hands, by going round attacking and seizing private properties of former government officials as well as some national officers of the NDC with the full support and collaboration of the security services and its commander - in- chief, President Nana Akuffo Addo.

It is therefore in furtherance of our earlier calls for law and order and the safety of our supporters, that we seek to embark on this mass walk to draw the attention of the authorities, the security services, the media and the general public to the ongoing injustice meted out to our people whose only ‘crime’ is being members of the NDC.

We therefore call on all members of the NDC in and around the greater Accra region as well as the general public to come out in their numbers to show solidarity and to send a strong and unequivocal signal to the NPP government and its operatives that ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.

We shall NOT continue to sit down and endure the harassment and witch-hunting of the NPP just because we have lost power. Ghana belongs to all Ghanaians, and we in the NDC will not be treated differently.
