The President’s nominee as Bolgatanga Municipal Chief Assembly (MCE), Mr Edward Ayiriba Ayagle, 61, was on Tuesday endorsed by the Assembly.
Forty-four of the 52 Assembly Members present voted for him, representing 86.6 per cent of votes cast.
Mr Mark Woyongo, Upper East Regional Minister, called on the assembly members to support Mr Ayagle for the development of the area.
He called on the assembly members to support the Chief Executive to complete old and new projects including extension of electricity to some communities.
He said plans were also underway to upgrade Pwalugu in the Talensi Nabdam and Fumbisi in the Builsa District to the status of millennium cities and called on the MCE to begin work without delay to ensure the completion of projects.
The MCE elect is a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Extension Holder and was the Municipal National Disaster Management Organisation Coordinator.
He thanked the President and the assembly members for the confidence reposed in him.
Mr Ayagle pledged to work hard to bring development to the area to improve food security, health, sanitation and education.
Mr Opam Brown, Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga, thanked the President for the choice, and advised the MCE not to rest on his oars.
