Ghana will host the 13th edition of the Union of Federation of African Karate (UFAK) Zone 3 championship from July 30 to August 6, 2011. A statement signed by Patrick Anyidoho Cofie, Secretary General of the Ghana Karate-do Association said Ghana was mandated to host the championship following its impressive performance at the last edition held in Niamey, Niger in May 2010. UFAK Zone 3 comprises Ghana, Nigeria, Cote d’Ivoire, Liberia, Niger and Togo, with about 176 Karatekas and officials expected to participate in the championship. Meanwhile, a seven-member Local Organising Committee headed by Wolanyo Agra, Director General of the National Sports Authority has been inaugurated to plan towards hosting a successful championship. Other members are Michael Nunoo, President of Ghana Karate-do Association (Vice Chairman), Alice Attipoe, Eric Banoeyele, Erasmus Adorkor, Frank Danso with Patrick Anyidoho Cofie as Secretary.
