The Member of Parliament (MP) for Adenta, Kwadwo Adu Asare, has called for the removal Mr Michael Teye Nyaunu as the Head of Ghana’s delegation in the Economic Commision of West African States (ECOWAS) parliament.
The Lower Manya Krobo MP was heard on tape telling party delegates not to vote for the retention of President John Evans Atta Mills as the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) because those around him were taking advantage of his supposed visual impairment for their own selfish agenda.
The MP has since been heavily condemned for his comments.
However, Mr Adu Asare, contributing to discussions on Peace FM’s Kokrokoo programme Monday, stated that Mr Nyaunu “has so far displayed total lack of discretion”.
The MP who could not hide his disgust at his colleague’s comments said that if Mr Nyaunu has been bold enough to describe the President, whom he (Nyaunu) represents at the ECOWAS parliament in such uncouth words, what would he do to defend the President when he becomes a topic for discussion at the ECOWAS parliament.
Mr Adu Asare noted that Mr Teye Nyaunu has disrespected President Mills and that he should not get away it.
He therefore insisted on his call for the MP's removal, saying “we can’t have somebody with that double mindedness about his presidency leading the Ghanaian delegation in (ECOWAS) parliament.
