The Minister of Education, Betty Mould-Iddrisu has dismissed a publication by the daily guide newspaper accusing her of sacrificing her long years of association with Mrs Agyeman-Rawling and supporting the candidature of President Mills.
The Daily Guide, in its 30th May edition under the headline: “Why I dumped Konadu Rawlings - Betty Mould Iddrisu” said the Minister, in an interview with the paper, explained that her decision to support President Mills was as a result of what she believes is the president’s competence.
Mrs. Mould-Iddrisu who is a close associate of the former first couple, told party members who had gathered at the Kuku Hill office to witness the launch of President Mills' campaign for the party's flagbearership contest that the NDC was not a family property, a claim many have concluded was an insinuation meant for Mrs Rawlings.
But responding to these comments on Joy FM's Super Morning Show Monday, Mrs Mould-Iddrisu said “I can never dump Madam (Mrs Rawlings). Madam has always been a role model, she has always been somebody that every Ghanaian woman should seek to emulate.”
She said “All I’m saying is that for her presidential campaign, 2012 is not the right time if we want to win and I want to reiterate the fact that I have the utmost respect and admiration for her and for the founder, for the president, for all the members of my party and I know that in 2012 under the leadership of President Mills, we will take power again.”
