Editor-in-chief of the New Crusading Guide newspaper, Abdul Malik Kweku Baako Jnr, says he has information a faction in the NDC is planning to use Agent Provocateurs to disrupt the party’s July 8 congress. He said although the information had not been verified, it was from a reliable source and therefore warned the leadership of the NDC to take note and prepare well in case of any eventuality.Since Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings announced her bid to join the NDC’s flagbearership race, there has been turmoil in the party.Members of her camp - Friends Of Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings (FONKAR) and their counterparts supporting President John Evans Atta Mills - Get Atta Mills Endorsed (GAME) - have attacked each other publicly, making claims and counterclaims against each other. The two groups were nearly clashed on Tuesday when members of GAME went picketing at the party’s headquarters where the ex-first lady had gone to be vetted.Speaking on Peace FM’s Kokrokoo Wednesday, Kweku Baako claimed that someone was contracting some agents provocateur, who will be conveyed to the congress grounds for the sole purpose of ensuring that they disrupt the vote counting process and therefore stop the emergence of a winner.According to him, the plan is to make sure primary ends in a stalemate.“Somebody somewhere is planning something sinister… [which will] lead to some chaos,” Kweku said, warning the party to act immediately to halt any such plans from materialising. He noted that in the event that no winner is declared at the end of the congress, some egoistic individuals would take advantage of the stalemate. The Central Regional Communications Director of the NDC, Mr Allotey Jacobs, who was also on the programme, corroborated Mr Baako’s claims, saying he and other members of the party had had similar hints.“We know very well, it is true that something is going on, even to disrupt the congress,” Mr Jacobs said.Story by Dorcas Efe Mensah/myjoyonline.com/Ghana
