Madam Patricia Appeagyei, winner of last month’s NPP primaries at the Asokwa Constituency, has expressed optimism that the NPP will wrestle political power from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2012 poll.
She observed that the disillusionment being expressed by the people towards the misrule of the NDC should be capitalised upon by the NPP to defeat the NDC in next year’s election.
She was addressing a large number of party faithful at a ceremony to thank party supporters at Asokwa.
“I don’t know who did or did not vote for me. There was a race for leadership and out of the three candidates only one person was to be chosen. It’s over. Let us unite, close our ranks and with a common goal, victory will be ours”, she said.
Present at the meeting were council of elders, regional chairman of NPP, coordinators and Mr. Charles Asomaning, a contestant at the primary.
The incumbent Member of Parliament, Mr. Kofi Jumah, who lost the primary, sent a delegation to represent him.
Madam Appeagyei urged them to leave no stone unturned to ensure that the NPP wins the 2012 polls to alleviate the suffering of the masses.
Commenting on her vision, Madam Appeagyei called for team work, stressing that the party stands handing defeat to the NDC if members shelve their differences and work as a team with a common objective.
She assured the family that everybody counted in NPP and their little contributions was what would ensure victory for the party at the next poll.
Mr. Jumah’s message, which was read on his behalf, called for unity and pleaded for forgiveness for whatever offence he might have inadvertently committed before, during and after the primaries.
Mr. F. F. Antoh, the Regional Chairman, praised the members for showing maturity during the election.
He urged the councils of elders and patrons to settle issues which had the potential to destabilise the party and undermine its chances of winning the 2012 presidential and parliamentary elections.
Mr. Antoh assured them of the party’s plans to supply every polling station with logistics to run their offices.
