The Youth Wing of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has launched operation reclaim Greater Accra region ahead of the 2012 general elections.
Their motive is to recapture majority of the Greater Accra parliamentary seats from the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) to secure majority votes for their flag bearer Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo to win the 2012 presidential elections.
The National Youth Organiser of the party, Anthony Abayifaa Karbo revealed this on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Friday.
According to Karbo, reclaiming the Greater Accra parliamentary seats is crucial for the NPP winning the 2012 elections.
“The NPP would have to reclaim the Greater Accra Region before the 2012 elections,” he stressed.
He added that the programme is to also demonstrate the youth’s preparedness to work hard to support the party bid to recapture power from the NDC in 2012.
Anthony Karbo noted that the party would on Saturday, June 11, inaugurate the Greater Accra Regional Youth Wing at Mantse Agbona in James Town to kick start the Youth’s campaign of Operation Reclaim Greater Accra for a massive victory in Election 2012.
He observed that the youth wing has developed strategies to reclaim the Greater Accra Region which was in the firm control of the NPP before the 2000 elections.
The National Youth Organiser of the NPP who described the programme as an inauguration rally, called on all youth groups affiliated to the NPP to come in their numbers to support the worthy cause, adding that the programme would be replicated in all the regions across the country.
