Police in the Upper East region are on a manhunt for Akwesi Zamnok, a young man believed to have forced a 17-year-old boy to defile a 13-year-old girl while he recorded the act on video with his mobile phone.

The suspect Akwesi Zamnok is also heard in the video giving directions to the 17-year-old boy how to penetrate the victim.

The video of the defilement has been circulating on social media two days ago, prompting outrage in Bolga leading to pressure on the police to act.

The defilement occurred in October last year but a formal complaint was only filed this month when the mother of the victim saw the video recently.

Second in command at the Upper East regional office of the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit, ASP Veronica Obese explained the suspect also slapped and forced the two children to have sex whilst he enjoyed filming the act of defilement.

According to her, the victim, whose name has been withheld met the two at the market in October last year when she was sent by her mother. The victim was said to have asked of her friend who she knows to be the girl friend of one of the boys.

The suspect promised to send the victim to go and see her friend at home, a request she obliged and was carried on the motorbike together with the 17-year-old boy.

Unfortunately, the friend of the victim was not available at home, when they went there, so the suspect promised to bring the victim back to the market.

It was on their return to the market that the suspect ordered the two minors to get down from the motor bike and later forced them to have sex whilst he recorded the act.

The victim did not report the case to her mother, Joy News' Upper East Region correspondent Albert Sore reported.

It was only days ago that the mother saw the video, confronted her daughter who confirmed the incident and which led to the arrest of the 17-year-old.

The boy also confirmed the incident but the suspect has since been on the run.

According to Sore, the 17-year-old boy has been released after failure by the police to pay for the medical examination of the victim which was put at a cost of Ȼ300.00.

With the video suggesting that the 17-year-old boy had sex under duress, it is not clear if the police are planning to prosecute him.

They are however on the hunt for young man who forced the two to have sex and filmed the process.

The suspect is said to be hiding in Talensi.
