Former Black Stars captain Stephen Appiah has advised the Ghana Football Association to appoint a local trainer as the next Black Stars coach.
The GFA are on the verge of appointing a new coach for the team following Avram Grant's departure after the Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon.
With some clamouring for an appointment of a local coach others are of the view that the job should be given to an expatriate.
Appiah believes giving the job to a local trainer is in the right direction.
"Looking at the history of Ghana football, all our major trophies have been won with local coaches," he said
"You can mention the likes of the late Sam Arday who won the 1995 title, Sellas Tetteh also won the 2009 U20 World Cup, so been a Ghanaian i would love to see a Ghanaian handling the national team."
Appiah has been tipped to join the technical team of the Black Stars should Kwesi Appiah be given the nod to return as coach.
