The former District Chief Executive of Walewale in the Northern Region, Laud Sule Awudu Zakari has rejected suggestions that he is behind recent calls for the dismissal of the Deputy Northern Regional Minister, Nasamu Asibigi.
A group calling itself Concerned Youth of the NDC in Walewale called on President Mills to sack the Deputy Minister for failing to bring development to the area.
Tuesday morning a counter group, calling itself, True Members of the NDC in Walewale addressed a news conference and asked the President to ignore the calls, saying they were instigated by the former DCE.
Secretary of the group, Imoro Abdul Razak said “The Minister is an honourable man who is serving the region and represents the interest of Mamprugu. Besides, West Mamprusi alone does not constitute the whole of Northern Region and honourable Nasamu Asabigi is a deputy minister for the 20 districts and municipalities of the region and not Walewale alone.”
Mr Razak said although the sacked DCE was dismissed for his incompetence and arrogance, he was blaming the deputy regional minister for it and therefore orchestrating his removal from office.
But the former DCE says the accusations are baseless and has dared his critics to provide proof.
He said he is not holding anybody responsible for his removal from office.
