The General Secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketaih has said members of the Friends of Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings (FONKAR) have not provided any evidence to the party to suggest that members of President J.E.A. Mills campaign team have employed intimidation as a tactic to secure victory for President Mills in the July 8-10 Congress. He said FONKAR has not been able to provide the party executives with names of any member of the Get Atta Mills Endorsed (GAME) campaign team who has shared monies or given any kind of incentives to lure delegates to vote for the president.FONKAR on several occasions have complained of intimidation, vote buying, sharing of motorbikes and monies to delegates by GAME members just to ensure a re-election of President Mills at the July 8-10 Congress of the party in Sunyani. They alleged that delegates are prevented by some party executives from meeting their candidate, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, which is contrary to the guidelines of the Congress.FONKAR, whose members have also complained about the region-by-region voting pattern and the composition of the electoral college have threatened to seek a court injunction on the Congress if the party does not address their concerns. But speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Wednesday, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah noted that FONKAR presented only one petition on intimidation to his office but the contents were vague so the party could not do anything about it.He added that, the party asked FONKAR to provide names of those in GAME behind such acts to the Judicial Committee of the party to enable them call them to order but they (FONKAR) have since not written back to the party.General Mosquito as Asiedu Nketiah is popularly called stressed that, the party will go ahead with the region-to-region voting pattern in the Sunyani Congress which is in line with the electoral laws of the country.Aseidu Naketiah said the NDC does not recognize FONKAR or GAME hence neither of them can dictate to the National Executives persons they want to be on a particular Committee planning the Congress. He said the argument by FONKAR that aspirants (President Mills and Nana Konadu) would prejudice against the region that would vote against them has been flawed because it is the same pattern the party uses in every congress.Story by: Adwoa Gyasiwaa /Myjoyonline.com/Ghana
