The construction of a GH¢75,000 bungalow for the chaplain of the Mfantsiman Girls Senior School at Saltpond, in the Mfantseman Municipality, is soon to begin.
The Bishop of the Winneba Diocese of the Methodist Church, Right Reverend Jeremiah Morrison, cut the sod for work to begin, on Tuesday.
The project, a gift from the School, forms part of the Golden Jubilee celebrations of the institution, and would be funded through voluntary contributions from students, teachers, parents and friends of the school.
In a sermon at a service, which preceded the event, Rt Rev Morrison charged the students to learn hard to become prominent and useful citizens for their parents, the society and the nation as a whole.
The Bishop noted that, “these days, people, especially politicians sell their birth rights for positions”, and urged the students to refrain from that.
Ms Charlotte A. Addo, Headmistress, recalled her student days at the School, when it became necessary for the students to make voluntary contributions to convert the art hall into a Chapel.
She said the development of a school is a continuous process and urged them to willingly contribute towards the building of the bungalow.
