The FA Cup final provides a route to glory for Asante Kotoko players, however, despite the threat from the opposition, they want to ride their luck on Sunday.
Beaten at the Accra Sports Stadium twenty-three days ago by Berekum Chelsea, which denied them another cup success, the Porcupine Warriors are keen to reverse the trend against FC Nania, their opponents in the Cup final.
Kotoko's hopes of lifting the Cup would present them passage to continental football and revive their morale after a difficult season.
Captain of the team, goalkeeper Isaac Amoako, says the club remains aware of the task ahead but they cannot ignore role of good luck.
“We are well prepared for the match. We know we have to win. We are focused. We are ready for the game. We are praying for good luck. Sometimes in football, you can do everything necessary but luck will elude you and you will lose. We need to pray for luck,” Amoako said.
Amoako explains that, Kotoko’s progress in the 2011 MTN FA Cup has come as a result of hard work but adds that there's a certain element of luck.
“We worked hard in all the matches we played on our way to the final. Team work resulted in victories but we also cannot rule out the aspect of luck. It has some role to play in the game especially in a competition like the FA Cup. If you take our matches against Aduana Stars and All Stars, you will agree with me that luck came our way. Converting penalties well requires confidence and shooting with power and accuracy but you also need luck,” the goalkeeper added.
