Fifa have banned former AFC president and member Mohamed Bin Hammam for life from all football-related activities after a two-day hearing found him guilty of charges relating to bribery within the organisation.
The 62-year-old has been suspended since May 29, along with fellow Executive Committee member Jack Warner, after allegations of corruption were brought up against him by the Caribbean Football Union in regards to offering bribes for votes in the Fifa presidential campaign trail.
However, after a two-day hearing, the Fifa Ethics Committee deputy chairman Petrus Damaseb has announced the news that Bin Hammam has been found guilty of handing out bribes and banned from all soccer-related activity for life.
"Bin Hammam is hereby banned from taking part in any kind of football-related activity at national and international level for life," said Damaseb, according to The Press Association.
It represents a massive fall from grace for the long-serving patron of Asian football, after his run for Fifa presidency put him in touching distance from the most powerful position in world soccer.
He has since maintained that he will appeal the decision to the courts.
