The Skipper of the Black Stars John Mensah has called on his colleagues to prepare well and not underrate any team in the build up to the 2014 world cup qualifiers.
The Lyon defender is optimistic they can continue their successive run to the world cup by appearing at the finals in Brazil 2014, should they guard against complacency and work hard to win all their matches, taking a game at a time.
Ghana will face the challenge of Zambia, Sudan and the winners of Lesotho or Burundi in the qualifying for the 2014 FIFA World Cup from Group D in the African zone.
In an interview on Asempa FM’s Sports Morning show on Monday, he stated that, with the current squad and the support from the Ghana Football Association, they are going to do their best to make it for the third time in a row to the world cup after their success stories in the 2006 world cup in Germany and the 2010 world cup in South Africa.
John Mensah will lead the Black Stars to London on 9 August 2011 where they will be playing the Super Eagles of Nigeria in an international friendly. He hinted that, the Black Stars will go all out for a win against the Super Eagles, to among others improve upon the current FIFA Ranking.
On his part Black Stars Assistant Coach Akwesi Appiah has assured that, Ghana will not take their Group D opponents in the 2014 World Cup qualifiers lightly, since the game is developing in all countries on the continent.
The former Flack Stars captain admits every match must be tackled with all the seriousness it deserves.
