Ghana winger Quincy Owusu-Abeyie's dream of playing Uefa Champions League football this term crashed on Tuesday night.
The speedster was excluded from the Panathinaikos squad which lost 3-4 at home to OB Odense in the third qualifying round.
The Greek giants bowed out 4-5 on aggregate.
It is still unknown why head coach Jesualdo Ferreira opted not to field the dribbler in the return leg.
He was a second half substitute when Panathinaikos earned a one-draw at OB last week.
Abeyie joined Panathinaikos on loan from Al Sadd this summer and was relishing the prospects of playing in Europe’s flagship club competition.
