The Methodist Bishop of the Kumasi archdiocese has endorsed calls on political parties to sanction members who exhibit insulting behaviour.
Right Reverend Professor Kwadwo Sarfo Kantanka wants President Mills in particular to openly rebuke his appointees who use abusive language to deter others.
He said the president should be bold even to dismiss his appointees found guilty of the behaviour.
NPP communications director Nana Akomea and the Deputy Tourism Minister James Agyenim Boateng have refused to apologize after they rained insults on each other on Joy FM’s news analysis programme Newsfile.
Nana Akomea wants James Agyenim Boateng to first apologise.
But Mr. Agyenim-Boateng does not see the need for an apology, insisting he never insulted the NPP Communications Minister.
The Rev. Prof Sarfo Kantanka blamed the trend on the tendency of youthful activists carrying their student militancy posture into public service.
He also accused the political party hierarchy of putting people who are loud mouth and could insult best into official position.
“It is time those of us in the church and politics should be able to speak about it and tell our members. I think the time may come when we have to declare to our members that if you hear a party that does this, do not vote for that party,” he stated.
