Two persons suspected to be part of a gang of armed robbers that broke into the Agriculture Development Bank (ADB) branch at the University of Cape Coast and made away with GH¢75, 077.02 in April, this year, have been arrested.The two, Emmanuel Abrokwa, 28, and David Justice Koufie, 25, who were picked up in separate operations on Friday and Saturday, are currently in police custody.A third person (name withheld), who is on the run is being hunted by the police.Also arrested the Nigerians, Michael Ndu, 35, and Chinedu Dike, 28, who allegedly stole 280,000 CFA France from an Ivorian national on board an Accra-bound bus from Elubo on Friday.Briefing journalist on the arrests in Cape Coast on Monday, the Central Regional Police Commander, DCOP Stephen Andoh-Kwofie, said Abrokwa, a security man of the Geocrest Private Security who was posted to the bank, was said to have assisted the robbers.He said the public was instrumental in hinting the police about the whereabouts of the suspects and commends them for the support.DCOP Andoh-Kwofie complained about lapses in the security systems of many companies and urged them to beef them up.Explaining the circumstances surrounding the robbery on the Accra-bound bus, DCOP Andoh-Kwofie said the woman, Bamba Ajah, was seated between the Nigerians on the bus with registration number GW 2791-10.The bus stopped at a Goil Filling Station at Pedu in Cape Coast for a rest after which it continued, but on reaching Moree, Bamba realised she had lost the money on her.She also realised that the two Nigerians had got out of the bus, so she quickly alerted the driver who reported the case at the Regional Police Command.The police alerted the various checkpoints and eventually arrested the suspects at the Ichaban Barrier in the Western Region.The two retrieved 195,000 CFA Franc from them.The suspects are expected to be put before the law courts soon after investigations have been completed.
