A member of the Young Patriots of the NPP, Richard Nyamaa has dared the Deputy Chief of Staff, Alex Segbefia to take the group to court if he really believes he is not culpable of the allegations leveled against him about benefiting from the seizure of imported cars. Speaking on Multi TV’s political talk show Minority Caucus, Mr. Nyamaa indicated that they have in their possession accurate evidence that clearly implicates the Deputy Chief of Staff of allocating seized vehicles from the Tema port illegally. “I have in my hand here a letter and this is a National Security letter actually indicating that the cars that were seized have been cleared by the US Interpol as claimed and so they should be given back to consignees, the consignees here being the respective owners who imported those cars.” Richard Nyamaa noted that a lot of fraudulent seizures of cars are ongoing at the Tema port which is somehow inuring to the benefit of government functionaries. According to him, there is “official robbery” ongoing at the Tema port “and you have at the helm of it someone at the presidency who is in charge. And sometimes seriously, I am beginning to wonder if the President is a beneficiary of this, because he doesn’t seem to question it and if you are not, then you are aiding and abetting.” “Look at the cars listed, you have 24 of them, 5 of them goes to Alex Segbefia, 5 goes to Custom officials obviously related to the NDC. 14 of them allocated to the office of the President. So no wonder you have party activists driving in MLS, this is the situation” he noted adding that “these cars have been seized illegally and given out to NDC functionaries… with Alex Segbefia benefiting the most.” The Young Patriots member also indicated that since the revelation of the ‘daylight robbery’ by port officials at the Tema port by Anas Aremeyaw Anas, the government has not taken any action against any of the identified culprits except Carl Wilson whom he alleges is also now “and as I am speaking Carl Wilson is still actively involved, he has just been set aside… what they will tell you is that he is working with a private company on the motorway. When the cars are stolen, they are given to Carl Wilson to take them Togo and sell.”
