Soccer Analysts have called on the Ghana Football Association to implement a quota system in the Black Stars to aid the promotion of local players into the team.In recent times, there has been an influx of foreign based players in the Black Stars anytime there is national assignment. This has cost locally based players enough opportunities to feature for the senior national team.Soccer analysts on Asempa FM’s sports morning show on Wednesday suggested that it will be in the interest of the players in the local league if the Ghana Football Association will implement a system, whereby players who excel in the local league will be granted call-ups to the national team.Regular analyst, Kwame Dwomoh Agyemang believes it is about time the Football Association put measures in place to help promote local players to ease their desires to travel to Europe for greener pastures.According to him, some of the clubs these players sometimes join in Europe are even lesser compared to the ones in Ghana which in no time destroys their career.He called on the Football Association to promote the players in Ghana by implementing a quota system in the selection of players into the national team which will at least see five local players in the Black Stars anytime the team plays.Edmund Ackah supports the idea of implementing a quota system at the Black Stars to aid the local players compete with the foreign based players for positions in the team.He believes if the Ghana Football Association hearken to the cry of the people, it will be a major motivation for players who play in the local league and also raise the standard of the league.This suggestion by these soccer analysts was triggered by the recent situation in the camp of the Black Stars when the technical team invited last minute, unknown foreign players to fill-in gaps for regulars who failed to honour an invitation to London for the postponed international friendly against Nigeria. The match was canceled due to the London riots.Ghana coach Goran Stevanovic handed late call-ups to, Mohammed Abu of Norwegian side Stromsgodset, Watford player Ben Mensah and Ibrahim Atiku of English League Two side Swindon FC for Tuesday’s friendly against Nigeria due to the unavailability of John Mensah, Anthony Annan, Daniel Opare, Kwadwo Asamoah and Rabiu Mohammed.
