Afua, while in court moved, to attack her sister, Yaa Asantewaa, and was erratic and made a lot pf noise.
She shouted and would not be restrained and kept shouting that she was prepared to be sent to Nsawam prison.
The Magistrate, Mr Abdul Majid Illiasu, therefore found her guilty of disturbance of court and sentenced her to 14 days in prison in hard labour at the Nsawam prisons.
Afua and Alex Odame, both farmers at Nkwantanang, are standing trial for assaulting each other.
The case of the prosecution in the original case was that Odame’s mother was the elder sister of Afua.
There was a protracted land dispute between Afua’s mother and the mother of Odame which was pending at the Kade District Magistrate’s Court.
On July 01, 2009 Odame went to work on the part of the land in dispute where he had planted cassava and maize.
While Odame was busily working on the farm, Afua went there and started uprooting the cassava, destroyed the maize and claimed the land belonged to her and this resulted in a fight between them.
They sustained minor injuries and each reported the incident to the police.
