Aide to the flag-bearer of the opposition NPP, Samuel Abu Jinapor has called on President J.E.A. Mills to immediately relieve the Director of Communications at the presidency, Koku Anyidoho, of his post for peddling falsehood.
Abu Jinapor noted that Koku Anyidoho has goofed seriously, hence he is not fit to head the communications directorate of the presidency.
The Daily Searchlight newspaper in its Monday August 15 edition published a story with the headline “Manifesting The Better Ghana…Mills Grabs Brand New Mansion! alleging that President Mills has built a mansion on a piece of land at his private residence on the Spintex road.
However in a quick rebuttal, Koku Anyidoho in an interview on Dwaso Nse with Adakabre Frimpong Manso on Adom FM debunked the Searchlight story explaining that the uncompleted building was just a token of appreciation from Regimanuel Grey Estate Limited to President Mills.
He added that the rented accommodation upon the request of President Mills would house security personal on duty at his (Mills) private residence.
The Director of Communications at the presidency revealed that Regimanuel Grey Limited, the estate developers, would bear the initial cost of the building and per the tenancy agreement President Mills would make the appropriate payments.
But Abu Jinapor on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Tuesday stressed that Koku Anyidoho should have done the dignified thing by resigning his position for misinforming the public.
He said the integrity of the Director of Communication has been called to question given the many contradictions in his statement concerning his response to the Daily Searchlight publication adding that “if Koku Anyidoho comes to tell Ghanaians any thing again, we have to listen to him with two ears”.
Questioning the authenticity of the said letter from President Mills to Regimanuel Grey Limited, Abu Jinapor observed that the whole deal smacks of corruption and there is the need for it to be interrogated further.
The aide to Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo urged Koku Anyidoho to offer an unqualified apology to Ghanaians for misinforming them on such a sensitive issue about the said house.
The NPP member observed that the issue exposes the massive corruption in the Mills-led administration.
“What does Regimanuel Grey Limited stand to benefit from it... civil society have to rise up and demand answers to the many questions being asked” he said.
Meanwhile Koku Anyidoho maintained that he was on top of issues contrary to suggestions that he did not have the facts.
“Nobody is claiming infallibility when it comes to communication but for goodness sake; don’t nail anybody to the cross when there is no need to nail people to the cross” he opined.
