Ghanaian football legend Osei Kofi has warned his former club Asante Kotoko to rethink the idea of selling as many as ten of its players to Serbian clubs following a pre season tour of the Eastern European country.
Best player of the last season’s top flight, Ahmed Toure and other players including defenders Awal Mohammed, Yaw Frimpong and Captain Daniel Nii Adjei are expected to stay in Serbia for few more days to work on sealing transfer deals.
In an interview with Joy Sports, Reverend Osei Kofi said, “look at the way Kotoko struggled before getting the third position of our league. It was because of the recruitment of new players by the Board Chairman which helped the club. And, if within nine months all these players are being sold out, then I am afraid because it is very difficult to get a team.”
He added that, “Initially, you will buy individual players who do not make a team before a coach can put them together and make them a team. That also is very difficult, so I am wondering why such a number of players are being left there.”
Asante Kotoko is expected to return to the country on Thursday after their 12 days stay in Serbia.
