A Fast Track High court has ordered Vodafone to henceforth cease its More Money Promotion. This was after the National Lotteries Authority filed for an interlocutory injunction against Vodafone seeking to restrain the mobile operator from running the promotion it says was styled as lottery. The court yesterday ruled in favour of the NLA, pending the determination of the substantive matter by the courts. Counsel for the NLA, Kojo Graham told Joy Business the NLA is satisfied with the court ruling. Vodafone had already taken a decision to halt the promotion pending the determination of the substantive suit by the High court. The NLA has now successfully secured injunctions from the courts stopping, Vodafone, Airtel and TIGO from going ahead with their promotions because it says the promotions are lotteries in disguised. But the Gaming Commission has challenged the action of the NLA, saying it has no such mandate.
