Head Coach of the national Under-23 team, Kwasi Appiah says he fears unpaid bonuses owed his players could derail their medal winning ambitions at next month’s All Africa Games.
The Black Meteors are yet to receive their winning bonuses five weeks after beating Nigeria’s Dream Team V for the qualification slot.
Coach Kwasi Appiah told JOY Sports’ Tony Bebli, “When players go out there to a competition and you promise them something and it doesn’t come, it’s very demoralizing. And, I am hoping that the (Sports) Ministry will be able to sort that out before we leave.”
He added that, “the players keep asking when the bonus is coming and we need to motivate our players. And if such things happen it’s going to be a problem.”
Each player is believed to be owed GHS6,000.
The Meteors will tour South Africa before the start of the tournament on September 3. Ghana are in Group B alongside defending champions Cameroon, Senegal and Uganda.
