An aide to the Deputy Chief of Staff at the Presidency, Alhaji Halidu Haruna has described as embarrassing the controversy surrounding the 2007/2008 audited report of the Information Ministry which is said to have gone missing.
Deputy Information Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has indicated that the report which spanned the period January 1 2007 to December 31 2008 has been forwarded from the Information Ministry to the Auditor General’s department and subsequently submitted to the Public Accounts Committee, but the report can no longer be traced.
The report which allegedly indicts the Kufuor administration of paying some group of media personnel to propagate the agenda of the New Patriotic Party has been conspicuously missing in the deliberations of the Public Accounts Committee and there are suspicions that it may have been shelved.
Speaking on Adom TV’s morning show, Badwam on Multi TV, Alhaji Haruna said the whole episode of the missing report is embarrassing.
Deputy Information Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa who was also on the show however said government is taking steps to resolve the issue and would issue a statement on the matter by close of Thursday.
