Policy think tank,IMANI Ghana, has dared Felix Kwakye Ofosu,a member of the communications team of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) to provide evidence to back his spurious allegations that the policy think tank is indeed an ally of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP)According to the Executive Director,Frankline Cudjeo,Felix Kwakye Ofosu must provide prove beyond every reasonable doubt that they are in 'bed' with the NPP to work against the NDC.His challenge comes after Felix Kwakye Ofosu on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Wednesday August 17, 2011 opined that IMANI Ghana, CDD, IEA and other policy think tanks in the country are allies of the NPP to prosecute an agenda to discredit and run down to Mills-led administration ahead of the 2012 elections. He said these civil society groups do not create a level playing field for all political parties but exhibit double standards and criticise any decision by the government to the advantage of the NPP.The NDC Youth activist observed that, the ruling party’s biggest policy think tank is the people of Ghana who voted them to power not the so-called civil society groups who do not contribute anything to national development. However, the IMANI boss who took strong exceptions to the comment of the NDC Youth activist described him as “an advanced bootlicker and a mere useful idiot” on social network site facebook. But on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Thursday, Franklin Cudjoe rendered an unqualified apology to Ghanaians for using unpalatable words to describe the NDC activist. He conceded that his words on facebook were too harsh and uncharitable and therefore warranted a retraction and an apology to discerning minds but not Felix.“The apology was on behave of the people who I respect so much; who wouldn’t go ahead and insult people and on behave of people who believe in progressive ideas and not necessarily on behave of Felix” he added. He noted that his reaction to Felix Kwakye Ofosu’s claims on facebook was a personal one and was in no way an endorsement from IMANI Ghana.Franklin Cudjoe stressed that, IMANI Ghana is non partisan so being branded as an ally of the NPP is baseless and unnecessary. He debunked suggestions that IMANI Ghana has lost credibility adding that such claims are from people who think their activities does not inure to their benefit.“Everything we have done is for every Ghanaian to judge. If the things we do make us enemies of the government well we can have that” he said.Meanwhile, Felix Kwakye Ofosu who still stands by his claims said Franklin Cudjeo given his pedigree in society has embarrassed himself with his reaction to the issue. The NDC activist noted the Franklin Cudjoe should have taken his criticisms in good faith and work towards redeeming their image rather than hurling insults at him.He stated that was prepared to match the IMANI boss ‘boot for boot’ should they meet on any platform to debate on ideas and policies.Felix Ofosu Kwakye said IMANI Ghana like any other civil social group is not beyond reproach therefore every well-meaning Ghanaian like himself could scrutinize and point out their flaws to them.
