Some members of the National Democratic Congress led by its constituency chairman, this morning took over the lorry park of Ashaiman in the Ashaiman Municipal Area of the Greater Accra Region. The youth who are described as foot soldiers stormed the lorry park in protest over the refusal of the municipal assembly to hand over the control of the park to its members and handing it over to one particular person.Chairman of the Ashaiman constituency branch of the NDC, Mohammed Gomda who confirmed the take-over to Adom TV’s morning Show Badwam on Multi TV said the take-over will curtail the cronyism that has characterized the awarding of contracts in the assembly. The constituency Chairman also leveled several allegations against the MCE, Nummo Adotey Addison for lack of development since he assumed office which he said is affecting the morale of the rank and file of members of the NDC and therefore asked the President for his removal from office.Meanwhile, the Municipal Chief Executive of the Ashaiman Municipal Assemble Nummo Adotey Addison has condemned the take-over of the lorry park and promised an immediate reversal of the action of the foot soldiers. He rejected the assertion that cronyism has characterized the award of contracts in the municipality and assured the general public he will not circumvent the procurement in favor of party members when it goes against them.Mr. Adotey Addison indicated Ashaiman has had its fare share of development except roads which he says are even being tackled.
