GHALCA’s eight-club pre-season competition continues to suffer setbacks with Asante Kotoko alerting it may not play in the tournament.
The Porcupine Warriors have explained that the format of the 8 team competition will leave their players fatigued before the start of the league season on October 9.
Speaking to JOY Sports’ Daniel Oduro, Administrative Manager of Asante Kotoko, Ben Nti said, “My boss (Kotoko Executive Chairman, Dr. KK Sarpong) has said he is committed to the Top 4 and not Top 8, so there is a possibility that unless we go back to Top 4 it’s not likely we’ll participate.”
Kotoko’s rivals Hearts of Oak have withdrawn from the competition meant to prepare qualified teams ahead of the new season which opens on October 9.
From all indications the Porcupine Warriors could be out of the fiesta.
Meanwhile, Kotoko continue with their pre-season activities with an international friendly against Nigerian top flight side Warri Wolves at the Baba Yara Stadium at the weekend.
