The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC), Mr. George Aboagye and the Western regional Coordinator of the National Youth Employment Programme (NYEP), Joseph Nelson, at the weekend picked nomination forms to contest the parliamentary primary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ahanta West constituency.The decision by the two heavy weights to contest the primary has set the stage open for other possible big wigs to enter the race. Already, a public right interest lawyer, Mr. Sam Pee Yalley is reported to be eying the seat, and would soon pick his nomination form.The former District Chief Executive (DCE) for Ahanta West, Mr. Joseph Jones Amoah who has twice contested the seat and lost, would also be picking his nomination form.The NYEP boss was first to pick the nomination form last Friday on the blind side of Journalists at the party office. But the GIPC boss, amid pomp and pageantry marched from his hotel with supporters to pick his nomination form.Speaking with press men, Mr. Aboagye called on the supporters of the party to rally behind any candidate who would emerge victorious in the primary, in order to wrestle the parliamentary seat from the hands of the NPP.Bubbling with confidence, the GIPC boss believes he is the heavy weight to wrestle the seat from the hands of the opposition, because he would be able to attract floating voters.Touching on what he would do for Ahanta if he eventually emerges victorious, the GIPC boss pointed out that over the years, the constituency has lacked infrastructure, particularly roads, due to lack of good leadership.He cited for instance how roads project meant for the area had been diverted. He said these have happened because the constituency over the years failed to produce good leadership.He pledged that if he is elected as MP, he would bring his rich experience to restore Ahanta to it glorious dignity. Earlier, Mr. Aboagye, who is credited for introducing the Freezones Board, told the press that picking the nomination forms meant a lot to him, as it was a stepping stone to enter Parliament.
