Two teenage boys, 9 and 15 years old have been grabbed for stealing a ram in Wurishe, a suburb of Tamale.The alleged thieves who were severely beaten were saved by the timely intervention of the chief of the area, Wurishe-Naa Shaibu.Angry residents, armed with all manner of dangerous attempted to lynch the suspects but the chief managed to calm the situation. Residents complained of persistent theft of their items including animals and motor bikes and therefore threatened to take their anger out of the suspects.The suspects, Mohammed Mahe 15 and Fuseini Mohammed 9, all from Kunbumgu in the Tolon-Kunbumgu District at the early hours of Friday stole the sheep belonging to a resident in Wurishe - T Poly, Tamale.The duo then carried the sheep to the Kumbumgu lorry station in Tamale and tied it awaiting the next available vehicle to Kunbumgu, but luck eluded them when they decided to go back for another sheep.The young thieves who received various degrees of injures through the beatings by the mob, to the utter dismay of the crowd who gathered at the scene confessed they are behind some of the robberies in the area and other Tamale suburbs.Mohammed Mahe, speaking with some difficulty, having sustained swollen mouth, head cuts and broken noise said, they had been sent by their bosses in Kunbumgu to execute the operation, adding that, they had been doing that business for long time now.He said, they steal about four to five animals any time they come to Tamale to operate and the stolen animals are carried to their bosses in Kunbumgu to sell and give them their share.He hinted that, these animals are sold to butchers in Kunbumgu and other communities in the area.They have been taken to Kunbumgu to identify four other accomplices believed to be the beneficiaries of their nefarious activities.The matter is yet to be reported to the Tamale police.
