Black Stars defender John Paintsil has told JOY Sports the team is committed to securing victory over Swaziland on Friday to ensure qualification to a fourth consecutive Africa Cup of Nations appearance next year.
The team has been in camp since Monday preparing for the continental assignment and it is likely Emmanuel Agyemang Badu, Kwadwo Asamoah, Andre Ayew and Prince Tagoe will be handed starting roles.
21-year-old Daniel Opare, who is based in Belgium, is winning the contest to become the team’s preferred left back despite being a right footed player and he is set for a start alongside John Paintsil who will start on the right with Isaac Vorsah and Jonathan Mensah partnering in central defense.
John Paintsil, who plays for English side Leicester City, told JOY Sports, “The mood has been fantastic since we joined the camp. We all know how tough and difficult this game is going to be because every country that plays against Ghana plays extraordinarily.”
He added that, “Each and every one knows in the team that it is a must win game that we are going for. We have to win the game handsomely so that our last game against Sudan would be much easier for us.”
Goalkeeper Richard Kingston will captain the team in the absence of John Mensah who is still recovering from an injury.
