The Fair Wages and Salaries Commission now says it should be able to migrate all public sector workers onto the single spine pay structure by December this year.
The Commission says the new date has become necessary because it is unlikely that it will meet the September deadline given by Vice President John Mahama in an address to mark May Day this year.
A few other deadlines have been missed in the past.
But Chief Executive of the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission, George Smith-Graham explains this has been because of a lack of consensus on the grading structure for some of the workers.
It comes at a time when more public sector workers are agitating over their placement onto the structure.
In what appears to be typical of the issues frustrating the migration process, the Ghana Association of Public Health Technical Officers (GAPHTO) wants the commission to speed up the processes to rectifying some anomalies in the grading of their members in the Single Spine Salary Structure.
They say current provisions made in the policy if implemented would not favor them.
