Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, former First Lady, has appealed to members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) “to pick up the pieces” and strengthen party unity.
“For those who care for the party we should do our best to regain its worth in unity,” she said at a thanksgiving service in Ho on Thursday.
She said were it for money she and others would have quit the NDC because the party’s worth is more than money.
Nana Konadu said those who had become disillusioned with the party needed to be given the confidence and boldness to come back.
She appealed to members who were contemplating a boycott of the forthcoming biometric voters’ registration to rescind their decisions because their votes are their voices and power.
Nana Konadu said she would be touring every constituency in the country to galvanise members of the party to patronize the registration exercise.
She said the path to victory was courage to pursue a dream, having a winning mentality and not waiting for a perfect time to act.
Mr. Kofi Adams, Spokesperson for former President Jerry John Rawlings, said Nana Konadu would not abandon the NDC.
He appealed to members of the party to ensure that they elected those who would work and consult with them when the nominations open for constituency elections.
“There are those who want to represent us as leaders and there are those who want to represent themselves. We have to act for what is right, hold yourselves together”, he said.
Mr Namburu Mberi, former Member of Parliament for Bunkpurugu Yunyoo, said the NDC needed to marshal everybody to be able to win elections.
He said it was for this reason that care should be taken in handling the expressions of genuine grievances by party members and the public.
