The National Youth Organizer of the opposition New Patriotic Party [NPP] Anthony Abayifaa Karbo has challenged President Mills to come clean on the true state of his health since he has consistently lied about the real status of his health to both the people of Ghana and US officials.Speaking on Multi TV’s political talk show, Majority Caucus, Mr. Karbo questioned why the President has failed to come clean on his health status when recent Wikileaks reports have indicated that he, President Mills was gravely concerned about the health of the late Nigerian leader, Umar Yaradua.“If you look at how the Americans have concluded [about] the ailment of the President, apparently it appears that the president is sick of some disease or cancer that has got to do with the throat and we all do know cancer of the throat has got to do with people who are excessive smokers and chronic alcoholics” Mr. Karbo noted. He added that there are rumours that “President John Evans Atta Mills in his days as a lecturer was a serial smoker and a chronic alcoholic. That could only inform his current ailment which he feels so shy about to tell the people of this country and has consistently lied and lied to the people of this country.”“Are these the reasons why the president is hiding his ailment, are these the reasons why the President does not want to come clean on his state of health? And why will the president consistently lie to the American Embassy about his health status and be asking the people he is lying to, to find out about another President’s health status” he questioned.According to him, the health status of any individual seeking to lead the country as a President is a matter that must be dealt with at the national security level. He thus called on the President to publicly declare the true state of his health to Ghanaians.Mr. Karbo also lashed out at the ruling NDC for tarnishing the image of the NPP’s flag bearer, Nana Addo, by calling him a drug addict. He served notice that the NPP is ready to face the NDC head on if they want to engage in personality attacks.“I have a newspaper that seems to have projected the flag bearer of my party (the man that many even in the wikileaks say that he is a man who has the greater support of young people, stronger appeal, and a charismatic leader) as a weed smoker and I find it very preposterous. I find it very ridiculous and reckless in terms of journalism, and of course if our friends have set up the stage, we are ready to flow with them and we will meet them at every stage of the propaganda” he warned.Ewurabena Yorke/ Multi TV
