The Member of Parliament for Mfantsiman East, George Kuntu Blankson has called on the embattled Trade Minister Hannah Tetteh to render an unqualified apology over comments she is purported to have made in the leaked US diplomatic cables, wikileaks.Madam Hannah Tetteh has been quoted in one of the leaked cables to have told a US Embassy official that the choice of Justice Joyce Bamford Addo as Speaker of Parliament was because “she is seen as someone who would take orders and be malleable to party discipline.”She is also quoted in the leaked cables as saying the national chairman of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) was likely to be replaced at the party’s post-election congress to elect party leaders, because Dr Kwabena Adjei “...lacks maturity -- and I don't mean because of his age.”Her comments have provoked condemnation from some majority MP’s, party members and government officials calling for her immediate resignation or dismissal as a Minister of State.Others have also called on President J.E.A. Mills to sack Hannah Tetteh who served as Head of Communications of NDC’s transition team after the 2008 elections.On his part, Kuntu Blankson on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Thursday, said the comments by Hannah Tetteh undermines the integrity of the President who appointed the Speaker of Parliament, Joyce Bamford Addo.According to him, the damaging comments by the Trade Minister is in very bad taste which would affect the work of the Speaker in Parliament.Kuntu Blankson observed that the latest revelations by the leaked cables should be a wake-up call to public officials to be cautious when dealing with any diplomat in the country.
