Ex-Ghana international Anthony Yeboah has stated that the inability of most professional footballers to relaunch their career in Ghana is as a result of the very high expectations of Ghanaians.
Yeboah who is considered as one of the most prominent and prolific goal scorers in Ghanaian and African football history believes the expectations from the Ghanaian public deter most of the Ghanaian foreign-based players from coming back to play in the Ghana league.
He told Asempa Sports on Thursday that facilities available in Ghana also deter them from coming back since most of the equipment available in Europe are not available here.
He said their counterparts in South America are able to go back to their various countries to relaunch their career due to the availability of facilities.
The former Hamburger SV player added that Ghanaian players who earn a lot in Europe normally feel reluctant coming back to play for less cash than what they earn and yet face huge expectations from fans.
Anthony Yeboah admonished that if the Ghana Football Association is able to put proper measures in place, he is certain there will be a time most of Ghanaian foreign-based players will come back to play in the local league.
