Ghana Athletics team trainer, Albert Nukperzah insists his side is set to secure medals at the All Africa Games in Maputo after four sprinters progressed in the multi sport competition.
Veteran sprinter Aziz Zakari and duo Timothy Abeyie and Emmanuel Appiah Kubi have all booked their places in the semi finals.
Zakari, a three-time gold medalist, progressed in the men’s 100 metres after a second place finish in the heats in a time of 10.51seconds. Zakari will be joined by UK based Timothy Abayie and Emmanuel Appiah who all qualified in a time of 10.55 seconds.
Albert Nukperzah told JOY Sports, “In fact for the 100 metres, we are going to get a medal both in the men and the women events. Since we have started on a good note, we are going to end on a good note.”
Vida Anim is the only female sprinter who qualified for the 100m finals in a time of 11.59 seconds after Beatrice Gyaman and Flings Owusu Agyapong failed to advance.
