The leader of the Black Meteors team Randy Abbey has described reports that the Black Meteors team allegedly stole some items at their base, as baseless and senseless.
The “Graphic Sports” reported on Tuesday that Games Officials at the All Africa Games had accused the Ghana men’s Olympic Team of making away with some items as they moved out from one of the facilities they lodged in for their games.
According to the report, Mozambican officials claimed the Ghana Team made away with spoons, cups, bedsheets, pillow cases and other items.
But according to Abbey, he expected the leader of the Ghanaian contingent to the games, Erasmus Adorkor, who was given notice of the alleged incident to have informed the Meteors team instead of reporting to the Director General of the National Sports Authority.
He fumed at the behaviour of Mr. Adorkor, describing it as unhealthy to their target of wining medals for the country.
Randy wondered “what will motivate anybody to give such a story to a media outlet to publish at this time that the team is preparing for their semi-final clash with Cameroon”.
He added; “If the leaders of Team Ghana could not report the difficulties they are going through to the media instead of giving out falsehood and lies, then God help Ghana”.
The Ghana Team so far has five medals to their credit - one gold and four bronze medals - and are hoping to win more medals.
The Black Meteors will be hoping to make it to the finals of the football competition as they face Cameroon on Wednesday.
