Ex-Hearts of Oak trainer, Yusif Abubakar has told JOY Sports he is ready for the challenge of helping big spenders Medeama SC to win trophies after joining the club as assistant coach on a 2-year-contract.
He will back Head Coach Bashir Hayford in the club’s quest to clinch the league title next season after finishing fourth behind Berekum Chelsea, AshantiGold and Asante Kotoko last term.
Yusif Abubakar inspired Berekum Chelsea to a historic league triumph last season as assistant to Orlando Wellinton and believes a similar feat is achievable with Medeama.
He told JOY Sports, “At this club, I know I can contribute my quota with piece of mind. It is a new club. This is about their second season in Ghana football. There are a lot of challenges facing the club which I want to help them overcome.”
He added that, “After what they were able to achieve last season, I believe this coming season will be more challenging for them. But, I also have my quota to contribute.”
Coach Abubakar agreed to join Medeama SC after his long awaited move to Asante Kotoko was delayed due to his dissatisfaction with some clauses in the contract handed him by the Porcupine Warriors.
