The Ghana Federation for the Disabled has launched investigations into the Akyemansan branch of the Association which is reported to have donated GHS 2,000 to sponsor the District Chief Executive Mr. Thomas Budu, to enable him contest the parliamentary primaries on the ticket of the ruling National Democratic Congress, NDC.
Secretary for the Akyemansan branch of the Federation Lord Degraft on Tuesday told Asempa FM’s correspondent Kwesi Azor that Mr. Tom Budu’s exemplary leadership and resolve to help the physically challenged, motivated them to contribute to sponsor his bid to become MP for the Ofoase Ayirebi constituency.
He however said the GHS 2,000 was raised from their individual contributions over the past six months.
He therefore declared their determination to support the DCE to be successful in whatever he does.
But Vice Chairman of the Association Yaw Ofori Debrah in a reaction to Asempa News noted that the Association is not a political movement stressing that no group or group of persons or individuals can use their name to hold any political programme.
Mr. Ofori Debrah warned of sanctions if any of the members involved are found to have fallen foul of its regulations.
