The 31st December Women's Movement has congratulated MP for Jomoro and daughter of Ghana’s first President Miss Samiah Yaaba Nkrumah for winning the contest to become the National Chairperson for the Convention People’s Party, CPP.
A release issued on Thursday signed by General Secretary of DWM, Ms. Sylvia Ahorlu copied Asempa News, commended Miss Nkrumah “for becoming the first woman to be elected to that office”.
“The 31st December Women's Movement (DWM), a women's NGO geared at empowering women economically, politically, socially and culturally recognises the challenges faced by women in our political system and acknowledges her victory as one for women,” the statement said.
It said the feat chalked by Samia should be seen “as an encouragement for more women to get involved in the decision-making of our country, Ghana”.
