Outgoing chairman of the Black Meteors management Committee, Randy Abbey says members of his gold winning squad at the All Africa Games must work harder to earn call ups to the Black Stars team.
The Meteors won a historic first gold after defeating South Africa last Saturday on penalties in the final of men’s football competition last Sunday.
Randy Abbey told JOY Sports, “I think that most of these players have demonstrated that they have the potential if given the opportunity. But, as the Coach and I told them yesterday at our final meeting, there is a word which is called consistency. They need to be consistent with their performance.
He added, “They need to improve upon their performance in their teams so that this is not seen as a flash in the pan performance, but that these are truly players who can rise to the occasion when given the opportunity.”
Head Coach Kwasi Appiah plans on recommending some players from his 20-man squad who impressed at the All Africa Games to get call ups into the Black Stars.
